Feeding the Compassionate Wolf
Exploring healthy responses to an unhealthy world
About
Us
We are a small community of pragmatic idealists and reluctant activists. We know that we can do better as a society, but we’re not sure how. We come together to learn, to explore, and to support one another. At the very least we hope to leave a few hints for the generations that come behind us in the hope that they won’t make the same mistakes that we did.
Areas We Explore
Our interests are broad and varied. Here are some of the many areas that we explore together.
- Resiliency: Building the capacity to recover from difficulties through community and connection.
- Capitalism: Exploring the underpinnings and implications of the dominant economic model of Western society.
- Climate: Exploring the impacts and strategies for mitigating the damage of burning fossil fuels.
- Environment: Embracing eco-diversity and the biosphere beyond climate.
- Education: Trying to figure out what should we be learning and how might we be teaching future generations.
- Governance: Studying and engaging in politics and how we govern ourselves. Exploring what we can do for each other collectively what we together what we can’t do for ourselves individually.
- Community: Exploring our interconnectedness and how we might be together.
- Connection: Learning anew how to connect with one other both face-to-face and virtually in this modern era.
- Livelihood: Discovering options and alternatives for how we might provide for our basic needs.
- Indigenous Wisdom: Learning from those who lived sustainably for 10,000 before the arrival of colonialism and fossil fuels.
- Technology: Understanding technology, its impact, and how we might leverage it to live sustainably.
- Energy: Being honest with ourselves about the production and consumption of energy and its dominant role in our lives.
